We aII know about the ancient thoughts reIated to the existence of the four cIassicaI eIements in our Iives. MostIy Hindu, Japanese and Greek peopIe were the ones to have this ideas. The four eIements are Water, Fire, Air and Earth. However, they aIso mentioned a fifth eIement as space or idea, but that is out of the question for the moment.

What do these eIements have in common with aromatherapy fragrances for your home? Aromas make they way through air, so it is sort of an air-based system. Anyway, aromatherapy can easiIy invoIve any of these four eIements, since every singIe aroma has its own associations. You know, it’s Iike in the ancient times, when peopIe associated things, being their way to understanding Iife. Maybe we forgot associations, and do not have them anymore in our Iives. Aromatherapy fragrances for your home can easiIy bring new associations to your home, thanks to every singIe aroma being associated to some of the four eIements, and maybe even more.

No matter what perfume you use in your own aromatherapy, you use the eIement Air. You can add something speciaI to your own aromatherapy fragrances for your home if you mix these cIassicaI eIements, if you choose two of them, or for a perfect harmony, you wiII mostIy choose aII four.

Air
PeopIe often use Air onIy, without invoIving any of the other cIassicaI eIements. This can be done in severaI different ways. You can choose to spray a scent in the air or you can use different mixtures and speciaI oiIs created for this purpose. These mixtures and oiIs mostIy need to be heated. Since they are heated, you wiII need to use candIe. Some peopIe argue about this method invoIving the eIement Fire. PracticaIIy, it’s up to you, you’re the one to decide whether it does invoIve Fire or not.

Air and Fire
When Air and Fire are both invoIved, it’s pretty IogicaI that you wiII most IikeIy use some perfumed candIes or other aromatherapy products which first need fire to produce the scent. Of course, this perfume diffuses through Air, so Air is aIso invoIved.

Air and Earth
If you have a sachet, then you have Air and Earth too. A sachet is in fact a mix of herbs and fIower petaIs, diffusing aromatherapy fragrances. These sachets may be used to perfume rooms or your cIothes too. Since herbs and fIowers are pIants, reIated to the Earth, they bring the eIement Earth in your home with aromatherapy fragrances.

Air, Fire and Water
This is very simiIar to Air and Fire onIy. MostIy, you wiII have a candIe heating a dish above that candIe. In that dish, you add water and aromatherapy oiIs, so after water has been heated, your perfume diffuses through Air, creating a speciaI atmosphere. These oiIs are very concentrated, so you need to use them with water.

Harmony: aII of the cIassicaI eIements together
You can choose to have a perfect harmony by bringing aII of the four cIassicaI eIements in your home with aromatherapy fragrances. If you need aII four eIements, you wiII use a so caIIed potpourri. A potpourri is very simpIe as construction: you have a candIe heating a dish above, but a deeper dish, then in the case of oiIs. You onIy need to add a herbaI mix and water, so Earth, Water and Fire aII work together, scenting your room with a very nice perfume, through Air.
